Primary localized conjunctival amyloidoi preenting with recurrence of ubconjunctival hemorrhage

PURPOE: To report the ocular preentation and hitopathology of a patient with primary localized conjunctival amyloidoi. METHOD: A 38-year-old woman preented with a recurrence of epiode of evere bilateral ubconjunctival hemorrhage. Ocular examination revealed yellowih, marked folding and redundancy of the conjunctiva in the inferior cul-de-ac of each eye. REULT: After two initial conjunctival biopie that howed only chronic inflammation, a third biopy revealed the preence of amyloid in the ubtantia propria of the conjunctiva. CONCLUION: Primary localized conjunctival amyloidoi i rare and uually diagnoed hitologically intead of clinically. Recurrence of ubconjunctival hemorrhage may be the initial preentation. Evaluation for ytemic dieae i advied, though the reult of the examination are almot alway negative.
