Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate an algorithm for the identification of glaucomatou viual field defect with the creening mode of frequency doubling technology. METHOD: creening-mode frequency doubling technology and wedih interactive threhold algorithm perimetry were performed on 137 of 150 conecutive patient referred to a glaucoma pecialit. We created an algorithm for the frequency doubling technology that gave increaed importance to both more evere defect and defect cloer to fixation. Thee value were then compared with the reult of the wedih interactive threhold algorithm viual field evaluated by the glaucoma hemifield tet, two maked glaucoma pecialit, and a publihed definition of glaucomatou damage to determine enitivity and pecificity of the frequency doubling technology creening mode for detecting glaucoma. Abtract REULT: The frequency doubling technology core obtained with our algorithm had a enitivity of 80% or more and pecificity of 93% or more irrepective of the criteria for defining glaucoma. enitivity increaed to 95% in detecting moderate or evere field lo without a compromie in pecificity. All ubject with normal viual field completed the frequency doubling technology examination within 90 econd. In mot cae, eye were abnormal if they had two peripheral defect or one central defect. CONCLUION: Our frequency doubling technology algorithm had both high enitivity and high pecificity in detecting glaucomatou viual field defect, allowing for bilateral creening in le than 5 minute.
