Abstract
PURPOE:
To report the clinical and hitopathologic finding of a premature infant with evere retinopathy of prematurity complicated by the development of an intralenticular fungal abce.
METHOD:
Cae report and literature review.
REULT:
A markedly premature infant developed Candida epticemia at 29 week potconception. Over the enuing 10 week, cataract and intraocular inflammation developed equentially in each eye, a did progreive retinopathy of prematurity with tractional retinal detachment. Par plana vitrectomy and lenectomy revealed intralenticular Candida pecie abce.
CONCLUION:
Progreive cataract and intraocular inflammation in a low birth weight infant may be caued by endogenou intraocular infection econdary to ytemic candidiai. Cataract econdary to retinopathy of prematurity i rare.
