Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate the effect of laer-aited in itu keratomileui on retinal nerve fiber layer thickne meaurement obtained with canning laer polarimetry. METHOD: Thirteen conecutive eye (13 patient) undergoing laer-aited in itu keratomileui were enrolled in thi propective tudy. canning laer polarimetry (NFA-GDx; Laer Diagnotic Technologie, Inc, an Diego, California) examination wa performed 1 week before and 1 to 8 week after laer-aited in itu keratomileui urgery. Intraocular preure wa normal at all preoperative and potoperative examination. Total mean, and uperior, temporal, inferior, and naal mean retinal nerve fiber layer thickne value before and after laer-aited in itu keratomileui were compared by tudent paired t tet. REULT: Mean ± D patient age wa 34.6 ± 10.9 year (range, 20 to 56 year). Mean ± D preoperative pherical equivalent refractive error wa −6.6 ± 3.1 diopter (range, −3.25 to −13.25 diopter) and mean ± D pherical equivalent refractive urgical correction wa −6.2 ± 3.0 diopter (range, −2.9 to −12.25 diopter). Total mean retinal nerve fiber layer and uperior, inferior, temporal, and naal mean retinal nerve fiber layer thicknee were thinner after laer-aited in itu keratomileui (P = .01, for all comparion, paired t tet). CONCLUION: Meaurement of the retinal nerve fiber layer with canning laer polarimetry depend on a corneal compenator inherent in the device. Keratorefractive urgery may affect canning laer polarimetry meaurement.
