Bilateral orbital hemorrhage in a newborn

PURPOE: To report a cae of evere bilateral proptoi reulting from orbital hemorrhage in a newborn and to dicu the differential diagnoe and management. METHOD: Cae report of a 13-day-old male infant with bilateral proptoi ince birth. The proptoi wa monitored with clinical examination and computed tomography a well a magnetic reonance imaging (MRI) can, and it wa managed with antibiotic ointment and patching. The MRI can demontrated bilateral ubperioteal orbital hemorrhage. REULT: Proptoi decreaed, and there wa ucceful, complete recovery without untoward equelae in 14 day; follow-up indicated no late complication at age 1 year. CONCLUION: pontaneou orbital hemorrhage, unilateral or bilateral, i uncommon in an otherwie healthy newborn without apparent hitory of birth trauma. Magnetic reonance imaging can are helpful in making the diagnoi of ubperioteal hemorrhage, and conervative management i advied.
