A combination light-pipe, oft-tipped uction, and infuion cannula intrument for macular tranlocation

PURPOE: To decribe a combination light-pipe, oft-tipped uction needle, and infuion cannula intrument for ue in macular tranlocation urgery. METHOD: Macular tranlocation urgery wa performed in human cadaver and live rabbit eye with a combination light-pipe, oft-tipped uction needle, and infuion cannula intrument. REULT: A combination light-pipe, oft-tipped uction needle, and infuion cannula can be ued for macular tranlocation. Thi intrument i ueful for relocating the retina after a 360 peripheral retinotomy i created. It can alo be ued for macular tranlocation with the cleral imbrication technique when uperior movement of the fovea i required. When ued in combination with another oft-tipped uction needle intrument, thi urgical intrument allow precie bimanual placement of the retina with imultaneou infuion of liquid perfluorocarbon for fixating the macula to it new location. CONCLUION: A combination light-pipe, oft-tipped uction needle, and infuion cannula intrument may be a ueful tool for macular tranlocation urgery.
