Abstract :
PURPOE: To meaure peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer volume in normal ubject and patient with ocular hypertenion, primary open-angle glaucoma, and low-tenion glaucoma.
METHOD: ixty-five ubject were claified into four group of normal ubject and ubject with ocular hypertenion, primary open-angle glaucoma, and low-tenion glaucoma on the bai of intraocular preure meaurement, viual field lo, and optic dik appearance. Group were matched for ex, age, and optic dik area. Peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer volume meaurement were made with a modification of oftware verion 1.11 of the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph confocal canning laer ophthalmocope. Retinal nerve fiber layer volume meaurement were taken at 0.1-mm increment from the dik margin for a global 360-degree aement and at four predefined egment uing two different reference plane. tatitical analyi wa carried out uing analyi of variance with Bonferroni correction.
REULT: Retinal nerve fiber layer volume meaurement howed a gradation from normal to ocular hypertenion and from ocular hypertenion to glaucoma group. Mean group meaurement howed tatitically ignificant difference (P < .05) in peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer volume for mot egmental meaure between the group. Meaurement with the default reference plane in the 0.0-mm to 0.1-mm and 0.1-mm to 0.2-mm increment for the uperotemporal egment howed the greatet difference between group (P < .00005).
CONCLUION: Peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer volume meaurement differ between group of normal ubject and patient with ocular hypertenion, primary open-angle glaucoma, and low-tenion glaucoma. Thi meaure offer a further method of aement of retinal nerve fiber layer in patient with glaucoma and glaucoma upect.
