Abstract :
PURPOE: To determine whether ubtance P concentration in tear reflect corneal hypetheia. METHOD: ixteen patient with unilateral corneal hypetheia participated in thi tudy. Untimulated tear were collected from each eye of all ubject. ubtance P concentration in tear were meaured by an enzyme immunoaay ytem. REULT: ubtance P concentration in tear from the affected eye were lower than thoe in tear from the unaffected eye in all ubject. The mean concentration of ubtance P in tear from affected eye wa 197.7 ± 69.5 pg/mL, markedly lower than thoe from unaffected eye (333.2 ± 74.6 pg/mL). CONCLUION: ubtance P concentration in tear, which are thought to reflect the neuropeptide level in ocular tiue, can be ued a an indicator of corneal denervation.
