Abstract :
%In March 1998, the American Journal of Ophthalmology featured a cluter of publication[1, 2 and 3] that focued on the emerging problem of intraocular inflammation in patient with human immunodeficiency viru dieae. Included wa one of the early decription of “immune recovery uveiti,” a condition in which heightened intraocular inflammatory reaction, attributable to the improved immune function aociated with new potent antiretroviral therapie, occur in ome patient with preexiting cytomegaloviru retiniti. [3 and 4] Now, 2 year later, immune recovery uveiti i believed to be the leading caue of evere, new viion lo in patient with cytomegaloviru retiniti related to the acquired immunodeficiency yndrome. [5] Neverthele, the diorder remain poorly undertood. A recently publihed tudy6 and two additional article7,8 in thi iue of the journal addre ome of the quetion that have arien about immune recovery uveiti, and highlight many of the problem that remain to be olved.
