Iolated comitant eotropia and Chiari I malformation

PURPOE: To report four patient with iolated comitant eotropia and Chiari I malformation and dicu the mot appropriate management. METHOD: Cae report and literature review. REULT: All four patient (5, 14, 16, and 37 year of age) preented with an iolated comitant eotropia that led to the diagnoi of Chiari I malformation. The firt two patient underwent uncomplicated neurourgical decompreion of their malformation, followed by complete reolution of their eotropia. The third patient underwent trabimu urgery and experienced initial reolution of the eotropia, but eventual recurrence reulted in the trabimu urgery being repeated 5 year later. The fourth patient had trabimu urgery with reolution of the eotropia but only 2 month of follow-up. CONCLUION: Although management of patient with Chiari I malformation and evere neurologic finding typically include urgical decompreion, management i le traightforward in cae with ubtle finding or in which ocular finding are iolated. The deciion to perform neurourgical decompreion or trabimu urgery hould till be made on a cae-by-cae bai, with the undertanding that trabimu urgery may provide only temporary ocular alignment.
