  • Abstract
    PURPOE: To report a cae of ytemic corticoteroid toxicity reulting from topical and periocular therapy. METHOD: Treatment and follow-up of an 11-year-old male with uveiti are illutrated. Initial preentation of the patient wa bilateral iridocycliti, for which he wa treated with predniolone acetate 1% every 2 hour for 6 month. ubequently, poterior uveiti developed, neceitating poterior ubtenon injection. REULT: After initial topical corticoteroid therapy, the patient developed a cuhingoid habitu accompanied by increaed lanugo hair, acanthoi nigrican, poterior ubcapular len opacitie, and increaed intraocular preure. Cuhingoid tigmata worened after adminitration of poterior ubtenon injection of corticoteroid. The patient’ truncal obeity worened, and hi linear growth topped. CONCLUION: ytemic toxic effect may develop a a reult of topical and local ue of ophthalmic corticoteroid preparation in uceptible patient.
