Abstract :
PURPOE: We examined change in optic dik topography uing confocal canning laer ophthalmocopy after reducing intraocular preure with adminitration of latanoprot. METHOD: Twenty-nine patient with glaucoma or ocular hypertenion were imaged uing the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph before and after the adminitration of latanoprot to decreae intraocular preure. Average time between pretreatment and pottreatment imaging wa 2.7 ± 1.8 week. Heidelberg Retina Tomograph oftware–meaured parameter were mean height of contour, cup area, cup volume, mean cup depth, maximum cup depth, cup hape, rim area, rim volume, cup-to-dik ratio, and retinal nerve fiber thickne. REULT: Average intraocular preure decreaed ignificantly (mean ± D) by 7.2 ± 5.4 mm Hg (25 ± 16% decreae). No tatitically ignificant change in meaured topographic parameter were found. When data from patient with decreae in intraocular preure of 7 mm Hg or greater were analyzed eparately (mean intraocular preure decreae = 10.79 ± 4.32 mm Hg, 36 ± 8% decreae), cup area (P = .005), cup volume (P = .002), and cup-to-dik ratio (P = .005) decreaed ignificantly, and rim area (P = .005) increaed ignificantly. Linear regreion analyi of the data from all ubject howed that a change in intraocular preure after latanoprot adminitration accounted for 12% or more of the variance in two meaured topographic parameter (mean cup depth and cup hape). CONCLUION: Thee reult ugget that, in ome patient, moderate decreae in intraocular preure may affect dik topography, a meaured by Heidelberg Retina Tomograph. Intraocular preure hould be conidered when analyzing conecutive confocal canning laer ophthalmocopy image for glaucomatou progreion.
