Amler grid examination and optical coherence tomography of a macular hole caued by accidental Nd:YAG laer injury

PURPOE: To compare a macular hole from accidental Nd:YAG laer injury with idiopathic macular hole. METHOD: Cae report. In a 24-year-old man with accidental Nd:YAG laer injury, right eye, Amler grid teting and optical coherence tomography were performed. REULT: Nd:YAG laer injury wa reponible for a macular hole about 700 μm in diameter. The viual acuity wa 20/100. Amler grid teting diplayed a central cotoma with no urrounding ditortion. Optical coherence tomography howed a defect in all retinal layer at the macula. CONCLUION: The cotoma caued by Nd:YAG laer injury i not urrounded by ditortion; the hole i produced by the defect of all retinal layer. In contrat, idiopathic macular hole generally produce a pincuhion pattern on Amler grid teting and have no tiue lo.
