Abstract :

METHOD: Cae report of a 46-year-old woman who underwent cleral expanion urgery on her right eye. Potoperatively, the patient developed chronic pain and welling that neceitated removal of the cleral expander.
REULT: After removal of the cleral expander, the patient demontrated a −1.4 diopter myopic hift in the right eye relative to her preoperative refraction. Axial length of the right eye wa 1.15 mm longer than of the left, wherea preoperative axial length were equal.
CONCLUION: Thi patient developed cleral thinning with reultant axial lengthening and myopic hift, akin to the phenomenon oberved with cleral buckle ued to treat retinal detachment. We believe thi wa reponible for improved near viion in her right eye, rather than any increaed accommodative potential purported to reult from thi operation
