PURPOE: To report Nerve Fiber Analyzer (NFA/GDx; Laer Diagnotic Technologie, an Diego, California) meaurement in a patient during the early phae of an anterior ichemic optic neuropathy. METHOD: Cae report. A 58-year old man with acute anterior ichemic optic neuropathy had repeated NFA/GDx can of the nerve fiber layer adjacent to the optic nerve head of the involved eye, a well a repeated HFA 30.2 (Humphrey Field Analyzer; Humphrey ytem, an Leandro, California) viual field examination. REULT: At preentation (day 0), he had a normal uperior nerve fiber bundle on the NFA/GDx, with a deep inferior hemifield cotoma. By day 21 and day 36, the uperior nerve fiber bundle thinned on the NFA/GDx, wherea the cotoma remained practically unchanged. CONCLUION: Thee finding ugget that after the onet of an anterior ichemic optic neuropathy, acute lo of axonal function reult in cotoma, preumably from ichemia. Thi i followed by a gradual diappearance of nerve fiber tiue, a meaured with the NFA/GDx, within everal week
