Abstract :
PURPOE: To review the clinical, photographic, fluorecein angiographic, and optical coherence tomographic finding in patient with the diabetic macular traction and edema (DMTE) aociated with poterior hyaloidal traction (PHT). METHOD: We performed a propective review of nine eye of nine patient with diabetic macular edema (DME) and PHT on clinical examination. The patient had a comprehenive ophthalmic hitory and examination, color photograph, fluorecein angiography, and optical coherence tomography (OCT). REULT: All patient had diabetic retinopathy and DME. Of the nine eye, eight patient had previou focal or grid photocoagulation. All nine eye had a thickened, taut, glitening poterior hyaloid on clinical biomicrocopic examination with no poterior vitreou eparation. Fluorecein angiography wa performed on even eye, and all had early hyperfluorecence with deep, diffue, late leakage in the macular area conitent with DMTE aociated with PHT. Optical coherence tomography can of the macular region revealed retinal thickening in all eye with a mean retinal thickne of 556.9 ± 114.7 micron. In addition, eight of the nine eye had a hallow macular traction detachment aociated with PHT. CONCLUION: Eye with DME aociated with PHT may have a hallow, ubclinical, macular detachment. Optical coherence tomography may be ueful in evaluating patient with DME to ee if a macular detachment i preent
