  • Abstract
PURPOE: To determine whether time of trabimu urgery for patient with acquired intermittent exotropia and contant exotropia influence potoperative enory outcome. METHOD: In a retropective, cro-ectional tudy, 76 patient with acquired intermittent or contant exotropia and motor realignment were evaluated for potoperative enory tatu. Age at urgery, duration of exotropia, and preence of intermittent or contant exotropia were correlated with potoperative enory tatu. The 23 male and 53 female patient had an average age of 9.3 year at the time of urgery and a mean follow-up of 5.9 year. REULT: Patient had a ignificantly greater chance of having potoperative tereoacuity better than 60 econd of arc (bifixation) if they were urgically aligned before 7 year of age (P < .01) or before 5 year of trabimu duration (P < .05), or with intermittent a compared with contant exotropia (P < .001). Patient with potoperative bifixation had earlier urgical intervention (P < .025) and horter duration of exotropia (P < .025) than thoe with potoperative monofixation. CONCLUION: Patient with intermittent or contant exotropia may achieve uperior enory outcome with motor realignment before age 7, before 5 year of trabimu duration, or while the deviation i intermittent.
