Abstract
PURPOE: To decribe a patient with bilateral retiniti pigmentoa and viually diabling vitreou opacitie, who benefited from vitrectomy in both eye.
METHOD: A 37-year-old man with retiniti pigmentoa and everely contricted viual field developed a large, dene, vitreou floater and viual obcuration in the right eye. ubequently, diffue vitreou opacification and viual obcuration developed in the left eye.
REULT: Bilateral par plana vitrectomy relieved the patient’ viual obcuration. Electron micrograph of the excied vitreou opacity from the left eye howed collagen fibril and cellular debri.
CONCLUION: Viually ignificant vitreou opacitie may develop a a complication of retiniti pigmentoa. The viual impact of uch opacitie may be magnified by it uperimpoition on limited viual field. Vitrectomy may be of benefit in uch cae
