Abstract :
PURPOE: To decribe and evaluate the caue of a clinical entity characterized by bilateral intraocular inflammation, multiple arterial ectaia including beading, macroaneurym, comma-like ectaia and kinking, with vaculiti, taining of the optic dik and multiple peripheral round punched-out hypopigmented chorioretinal car in elderly patient. The formation and the coure of the arterial ectaia i analyzed.
METHOD: even patient with thi yndrome were evaluated by clinical examination, fluorecein angiography, and ytemic invetigation.
REULT: Three of the even patient had a biopy characteritic of arcoidoi, two other howed poitive bronchoalveolar lavage, a well a other analye and tet uggeting arcoidoi, and two howed other finding uggetive of arcoidoi. The patient were all over 60 year of age and had arterial hypertenion. In two patient, an arterial ectaia developed at the ite of previou focal inflammation. The macroaneurym either remained unchanged, became comma-like ectaia, arterial kink, or completely vanihed.
CONCLUION: Elderly patient with multiple arterial ectaia, uveiti, dik taining, and peripheral chorioretiniti hould be thoroughly invetigated for arcoidoi. We ugget that arcoidoi may caue ome degree of arteriti, which may weaken the arterial wall, with reulting ectaia. Arterial hypertenion may play a role in the formation of the ectaia by increaing the preure on the arterial wall weakened by inflammation
