Late-onet traumatic laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK) flap dehicence

PURPOE: To report a cae of laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK) flap dehicence following focal trauma ix month after uneventful refractive urgery. METHOD: Cae report. A 37 year old man wa een one day after a tree branch napped tangentially againt hi left cornea cauing a dehicence of hi LAIK flap. REULT: The flap wa repoitioned after treating the expoed flap troma with a 50:50 mixture of ditilled water and balanced alt olution. The patient regained 20/20 uncorrected viual acuity. CONCLUION: Patient hould be informed about the potential for traumatic flap dehicence following LAIK urgery and advied to wear eye protection when appropriate. Due to minimal wound healing except at the edge of the flap, corneal flap dehicence may occur month or year after uneventful LAIK.
