Abstract
PURPOE: To decribe two patient who developed a retinal pigment epithelial tear after tranpupillary thermotherapy for choroidal neovacularization.
METHOD: Cae report.
REULT: Retinal pigment epithelial (retinal pigment epithelium) tear developed in 2 (8%) of 25 eye after tranpupillary thermotherapy for occult choroidal neovacularization aociated with age-related macular degeneration. In both eye, the retinal pigment epithelium tear developed between the treatment eion and firt pot-treatment examination. In both eye, the viual acuity wa unchanged, but the complication of retinal pigment epithelium tear may reult in decreaed viual acuity when tranpupillary thermotherapy i performed in an eye with good initial viual acuity.
CONCLUION: Retinal pigment epithelium tear appear to occur more frequently after tranpupillary thermotherapy for poorly defined choroidal neovacularization than after conventional laer photocoagulation for poorly defined choroidal neovacularization
