Tranient formed viual hallucination following macular tranlocation for ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization econdary to age-related macular degeneration

PURPOE: To report the occurrence of tranient formed viual hallucination following macular tranlocation. METHOD: Two cae report. REULT: Two white women aged 84 and 83 year with bilateral age-related macular degeneration and unilateral ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization underwent macular tranlocation with punctate retinotomy (limited macular tranlocation) and choriocleral infolding in the eye with neovacularization. They complained of formed viual hallucination which began within 24 hour following macular tranlocation and ceaed 7 and 3 day potoperatively, repectively. Their ymptom occurred in the preence of normal cognition, orientation and inight, were not aociated with other pychiatric ymptom, and were characteritic of Charle Bonnet yndrome (CB). CONCLUION: The temporary deliberate retinal detachment and/or poor viion following macular tranlocation may be aociated with potoperative CB, and thi report extend the pectrum of condition aociated with CB
