Light-induced amauroi fugax

PURPOE: To decribe an important ymptom of bilateral amauroi precipitated by expoure to bright light. METHOD: Cae report. Clinical analyi of tranient, painle, aymmetrical viual lo occurring in bright light in a 54-year-old man. REULT: Carotid ultraound howed bilateral carotid dieae. Carotid angiography demontrated occluion of the left internal carotid artery and evere tenoi of the right internal carotid artery and both external carotid arterie. Viual ymptom and an abnormal phototre tet completely remitted after a right carotid endarterectomy. CONCLUION: Light-induced amauroi i an unfamiliar manifetation of ocular ichemic yndrome occurring with evere, often bilateral, carotid artery dieae. It recognition i important becaue the complaint i aociated with evere carotid occluive dieae and recognition i neceary for timely urgical intervention becaue of the major rik for troke
