Abstract :
PURPOE: To report the outcome of autologou blood injection for late-onet filtering bleb leak. METHOD: Retropective chart review of all eye that had autologou blood injection() for filtering bleb leak occurring at leat 2 month after trabeculectomy at the Indiana Univerity Medical Center. ucceful treatment wa defined a reolution of the bleb leak and no need for additional glaucoma medication. Failure wa defined a a peritent bleb leak, intraocular preure greater than 21 mm Hg, or the occurrence of a viion-threatening event related to the procedure. REULT: Thirty-two eye of 31 patient had autologou blood injection for filtering bleb leak and were followed for a mean of 4.9 month (D, 9.2; range, 1 to 37 month). Twenty-three eye (72%) were outright failure becaue of peritence of the leak. Nine eye (28%) had an initially ucceful outcome, but the ucce rate decreaed over time a bleb leak recurred in three of the nine eye at 5, 6, and 37 month. No patient characteritic correlated with outcome. Mean intraocular preure increaed from pretreatment to final examination (4.5 to 6.5 mm Hg, P = .003). Mean logarithm of minimal angle of reolution (logMAR) viion remained unchanged from pretreatment to final examination (P = .55). Blood eeinto the anterior chamber after autologou blood injection wa common but tranient. CONCLUION: Autologou blood injection i of limited ucce in treating late-onet filtering bleb leak.
