Abstract
PURPOE: To decribe the poible aociation of latanoprot with herpetic dermatiti of the periocular kin.
METHOD: Interventional cae report. A 79-year-old woman with open-angle glaucoma developed a veicular dermatiti of the left lower eyelid 14 month after tarting latanoprot therapy. An 84-year-old man with pigmentary glaucoma developed a veicular dermatiti of the right upper lid after 2 month of treatment with latanoprot and 8 day of treatment with tobramycin/dexamethaone for preumed bacterial conjunctiviti. In both cae, the dermatiti wa characteritic of a herpetic infection.
REULT: Latanoprot wa dicontinued in both cae. The woman wa treated with vidarabine 3% ointment, and the man wa not treated with antiviral agent. In both patient, the dermatiti healed uneventfully. The leion of the man were cultured, and a biopy wa performed; herpe implex viru type 1 wa recovered from the culture and confirmed by immunofluorecence teting.
CONCLUION: Latanoprot, which ha been aociated with reactivation of herpetic keratiti, may alo caue reactivation of herpetic dermatiti of the periocular kin.
