Abstract
PURPOE: To report an HIV-negative lymphoma patient who developed progreive outer retinal necroi yndrome and who had a good viual outcome after treatment with two-drug antiviral therapy and intravenou immunoglobulin.
METHOD: Cae report.
REULT: A 43-year-old man with mall lymphocytic lymphoma wa diagnoed with progreive outer retinal necroi in hi left eye. Treatment wa initiated with intravenou focarnet and ganciclovir a well a intravenou gammaglobulin at a doe of 0.5 gm/kg per day for 5 day. On the econd hopital day he wa tarted on decadron 4 mg orally four time daily. No further poterior retiniti progreion wa oberved depite evere immunouppreion. Viual acuity remained table at 20/30 with 10 month’ follow-up.
CONCLUION: The benefit of uing gammaglobulin in progreive outer retinal necroi i unknown. Given the rapid improvement een in thi patient’ retiniti, it may be reaonable to conider the ue of gammaglobulin in other cae of infectiou retiniti in immunocompromied patient.
