Abstract
PURPOE: To report a cae of idiopathic vitreomacular traction yndrome with preoperative and potoperative evaluation by optical coherence tomography.
DEIGN: Interventional cae report.
METHOD: A 62-year-old woman preented with blurred viion in the left eye becaue of idiopathic vitreomacular traction yndrome, and he underwent a par plana vitrectomy. Optical coherence tomography wa performed before and after urgery.
REULT: Preoperative optical coherence tomography, right eye, revealed reidual adheion of incomplete poterior vitreou detachment and edematou, thickened outer retina in the macula. A ucceful vitrectomy relieved vitreoretinal traction with nearly complete reolution of cytoid macular edema within 1 month after urgery, followed in ubequent month by gradual foveal depreion reembling a lamellar macular hole. Reolution of ubretinal erou fluid wa delayed with complete diappearance, ome 12 month after urgery, which correlated with a gradual improvement in viual acuity.
CONCLUION: Optical coherence tomography provide a enitive anatomical evaluation of vitreomacular traction yndrome. Reorganization of retinal tiue after urgical intervention for vitreoretinal traction may be lower than i apparent from conventional examination
