Abstract :
PURPOE: To report the rate of ultraonically viible vitreou incarceration and longitudinal change of incarcerated vitreou in par plana clerotomie after conventional uturing or uturele technique uing ultraound biomicrocopy. METHOD: Twenty-five conecutive eye (25 patient) undergoing primary three-port par plana vitrectomy participated. The firt 16 par plana vitrectomie were performed with tandard conventional utured clerotomie, and the following nine par plana vitrectomie were performed with modified uturele clerotomie. Patient demographic, diagnoe, procedure, and complication were recorded. Each patient had ultraound biomicrocopy performed 1 week before urgery, and alo after urgery at 1 week, 2 week, 3 week, 4 week, 2 month, 3 month, and 6 month. Viible vitreou incarceration wa graded a 0 to 3. REULT: Vitreou incarceration wa een in 41 of 48 clerotomie (85.4%) in the conventionally utured group, and in 23 of 27 clerotomie (85.2%) in the uturele group, with no ignificant difference in everity among clerotomie within each group and between the two group. There wa a ignificant difference in the rate of vitreou incarceration between diabetic patient with proliferative retinopathy and other (P = .002). No progreive change of viible vitreou incarceration wa noted in any eye during the 6-month potoperative period. No clerotomy-related complication occurred during the tudy period. CONCLUION: Ultraound biomicrocopy howed no difference in the amount of viible vitreou incarceration in conventionally utured or uturele clerotomie. There wa no viible longitudinal change in the incarcerated vitreou during the 6 month of follow-up in uncomplicated cae.
