Abstract :
PURPOE: To report a patient with an initial preentation of optic dik edema econdary to Propionibacterium acne endophthalmiti.
METHOD: Interventional cae report. The patient had urgery and treatment related to endophthalmiti. Nine month after cataract urgery with poterior chamber len implant, a 79-year-old man receiving topical corticoteroid in the ame eye preented with bet-corrected viual acuity of 20/60, a uperior viual field defect, and optic nerve edema without intraocular inflammation. One year potoperatively, the eye preented a further decreae in bet-corrected viual acuity, and a dene white plaque wa noted on the poterior capule.
REULT: One year potoperatively, a partial capulectomy with vitrectomy and injection of intravitreal antibiotic wa performed. Hematoxylin and eoin tain of the poterior capule plaque revealed gram-poitive coccobacilli characteritic of P. acne.
CONCLUION: Propionibacterium acne endophthalmiti may preent after cataract urgery with intraocular len implant with decreaed viion, optic dik edema, and a viual field defect
