Bilateral central retinal vein occluion in eienmenger yndrome

PURPOE: To report a cae of bilateral central retinal vein occluion in a patient with Eienmenger yndrome. METHOD: Cae report. A 60-year-old woman with Eienmenger yndrome econdary to a congenital ventricular eptal defect preented with a 2-week hitory of decreaed viion in both eye. REULT: Ophthalmic examination revealed bilateral central retinal vein occluion. Laboratory finding included hematocrit of 50.3% and pO2 of 52 mm Hg while on O2 5 L/min per naal cannula, depite having undergone phlebotomy 2 week earlier. CONCLUION: Chronic hypoxia caued by Eienmenger yndrome may reult in polycythemia with reultant hypervicoity and bilateral central retinal vein occluion.
