Abstract :
PURPOE: Pigmentary glaucoma i a bilateral diorder. When it occur aymmetrically or unilaterally, a caue hould be ought becaue it may help u to undertand the pathophyiology of thi condition better. We decribe a patient with unilateral pigmentary glaucoma and the Adie pupil in the ame eye and dicu the poible role of the Adie pupil in the development of the pigmentary glaucoma.
METHOD: A cae report. A 37-year-old woman preented with aymmetric pigment diperion reulting in pigmentary glaucoma in the right eye and an unilateral Adie pupil in the ame eye.
REULT: We believe that the dilated Adie pupil in the right eye might have reulted in a decreaed amount of relative pupillary block. Thi, then, might have led to an increaed contact between the poterior iri and the zonule, reulting in greater pigment diperion and trabecular obtruction in the right eye.
CONCLUION: It ha been propoed that the pigment i liberated from the iri pigment epithelium becaue of the mechanical rubbing of the poterior iri againt the anterior zonular packet. Our cae upport thi propoed mechanim of pigment releae.
