Abstract :
PURPOE: To determine the change in the expreion of pigment epithelium-derived factor in cultured human retinal pigment epithelial cell and rat retina after laer photocoagulation.
METHOD: Experimental tudy of laer photocoagulation on human retinal pigment epithelial cell in culture and on adult rat. Revere trancription-polymerae chain reaction and emiquantitative polymerae chain reaction analyi were ued.
REULT: After photocoagulation, the mRNA expreion of pigment epithelium-derived factor wa upregulated in human retinal pigment epithelial cell at 6 hour and then gradually decreaed. Compared with control, ignificantly higher level of pigment epithelium-derived factor were oberved in rat retina from 6 to 24 hour after laer photocoagulation (P < .005), and they were till higher than before photocoagulation at 2 week.
CONCLUION: An upregulation of pigment epithelium-derived factor in retinal pigment epithelial cell and in the retina after photocoagulation ugget that pigment epithelium-derived factor play a role in inhibiting neovacularization by it antiangiogenic activity.
