Hypotony caued by cleral buckle eroion in Marfan yndrome

PURPOE: To decribe hypotony caued by eroion of the conjunctiva and clera by a ilicone cleral buckle. METHOD: Interventional cae report. A 33-year-old man with Marfan yndrome preented with hypotony maculopathy and a collaped globe 17 month after repair of retinal detachment with a ilicone ponge and ilicone encircling band. REULT: Examination in the operating room revealed extruion of the buckle through the conjunctiva and full-thickne cleral eroion. The ilicone buckle wa removed, and the cleral defect wa cloed with interrupted 8-0 nylon uture. Potoperative glaucoma wa treated with cyclophotocoagulation. Eight month after cleral repair, viual acuity wa RE: 20/40, intraocular preure wa 10 mm Hg, and the retina wa attached. CONCLUION: Full-thickne cleral eroion econdary to a ilicone exoplant cauing hypotony i a rare long-term complication in patient with thin clera.
