Abstract :
PURPOE: To illutrate a novel method of management for extenive conjunctival and corneal melanoma
METHOD: Interventional cae report. A 40-year-old Caucaian woman preented with a large, diffue conjunctival melanoma involving 6 clock hour of the limbu. The remaining bulbar conjunctiva and the entire corneal epithelium were affected by diffue, flat melanoi.
REULT: The conjunctival melanoma wa completely reected microurgically in one piece without dirupting the tumor. The conjunctival melanoi wa treated with double freeze–thaw cryotherapy. The extenive conjunctival defect, involving one-half of the bulbar conjunctiva, wa recontructed with an amniotic membrane allograft. The corneal melanoi wa ubequently treated with topical mitomycin C eyedrop. At 8 month follow-up, the conjunctiva and the cornea were completely healed with reolution of all pigment and 20/20 viual acuity.
CONCLUION: Preliminary evidence ugget that combined therapeutic approache, coniting of extenive tumor removal, cryotherapy, amniotic membrane allograft, and topical mitomyin C, can be effective in the management of diffue conjunctival and corneal melanoma ariing from primary acquired melanoi.
