Abstract :
PURPOE: To report the location of the inferior oblique mucle after enucleation without primary attachment of the mucle to the orbital implant and after eviceration. METHOD: Interventional cae erie. Retropectively, eight orbital magnetic reonance imaging (MRI) tudie were analyzed, four after enucleation and four after eviceration, to ae the poition of the inferior oblique mucle relative to the orbital implant and the point of inertion. REULT: In the enucleation patient, the inferior oblique mucle wa anteriorly diplaced and the mucle appeared to inert into an inferior ubconjunctival car ma in three of the four patient. In all four of the eviceration patient, the inferior oblique mucle appeared normally poitioned and inerted onto the implant in the normal location. CONCLUION: Enucleation without uturing of the inferior oblique mucle to the implant i aociated with healing in an abnormal anterior location and into an inferior ubconjunctival car ma. Eviceration doe not appear to dirupt the normal poition or inertion of the inferior oblique mucle.
