Foreign body reaction with delayed extruion of ganciclovir implant in a patient with immune recovery vitriti yndrome

PURPOE: To report a cae of delayed extruion of primary ganciclovir implant in a patient with immune recovery vitriti yndrome. METHOD: Interventional cae report. A 54-year-old HIV poitive male patient with immune recovery vitriti yndrome had pontaneou extruion of bilateral ganciclovir device 4 year after primary implantation. REULT: The extruded ganciclovir implant were removed from both eye, and removal wa complicated by vitreou hemorrhage in one eye. Hitopathological examination of the extruded implant, LE, howed marked inflammation and evidence of foreign body reaction. CONCLUION: Exce inflammation in eye with immune recovery vitriti yndrome may trigger a foreign body reaction that reult in a delayed extruion of primary ganciclovir implant. The ite of ganciclovir implant in patient with immune recovery vitriti yndrome hould be regularly inpected for eroding trut to prevent econdary endophthalmiti.
