Abstract :
PURPOE: To report calcification of the capule urrounding alloplatic orbital implant and potulate thi calcification a a poible caue of poor implant motility. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: Two patient with alloplatic pherical implant after enucleation preented with poor implant motility. Both patient underwent orbital implant exchange with a quai-integrated porou polyethylene orbital implant. REULT: During removal of the original alloplatic orbital implant, a hard, thick hell adherent to the urrounding orbital tiue wa encountered. After complete exciion of the hell, microcopic evaluation confirmed a dene, fibrou capule with calcification. No evidence of inflammation or malignancy wa aociated with either capule. Potoperatively, both patient had ignificant improvement in motility of their new orbital implant. CONCLUION: Although calcification of the fibrou capule urrounding alloplatic orbital implant i an unuual finding, it may reult in poor implant motility. Capule exciion and implant exchange may ignificantly improve the motility of the orbital implant.
