Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate the enitivity and pecificity of the creening mode of the Humphrey-Welch Allyn frequency-doubling technology (FDT), Octopu tendency-oriented perimetry (TOP), and the Humphrey wedih Interactive Threhold Algorithm (ITA)-fat (HF) in patient with glaucoma. DEIGN: A comparative conecutive cae erie. METHOD: Thi wa a propective tudy which took place in the glaucoma unit of an academic department of ophthalmology. One eye of 70 conecutive glaucoma patient and 28 age-matched normal ubject wa tudied. Eye were examined with the program C-20 of FDT, G1-TOP, and 24-2 HF in one viit and in random order. The gold tandard for glaucoma wa preence of a typical glaucomatou optic dik appearance on tereocopic examination, which wa judged by a glaucoma expert. The enitivity and pecificity, poitive and negative predictive value, and receiver operating characteritic (ROC) curve of two algorithm for the FDT creening tet, two algorithm for TOP, and three algorithm for HF, a defined before the tart of thi tudy, were evaluated. The time required for each tet wa alo analyzed. REULT: Value for area under the ROC curve ranged from 82.5%–93.9%. The larget area (93.9%) under the ROC curve wa obtained with the FDT criteria, defining abnormality a preence of at leat one abnormal location. Mean tet time wa 1.08 ± 0.28 minute, 2.31 ± 0.28 minute, and 4.14 ± 0.57 minute for the FDT, TOP, and HF, repectively. The difference in teting time wa tatitically ignificant (P < .0001). CONCLUION: The C-20 FDT, G1-TOP, and 24-2 HF appear to be ueful tool to diagnoe glaucoma. The tet C-20 FDT and G1-TOP take approximately 1/4 and 1/2 of the time taken by 24 to 2 HF.
