Cytoid macular edema in the era of ocular hypotenive lipid

PURPOE: To review cytoid macular edema in relationhip with ocular hypotenive lipid and to preent recommendation for ue in eye at increaed rik of cytoid macular edema. DEIGN: Focued literature review and author’ clinical experience. METHOD: Cytoid macular edema in aociation with cataract urgery, epinephrine therapy, and ocular hypotenive lipid therapy i reviewed. REULT: Cytoid macular edema may be aociated with a variety of therapeutic intervention, predominantly in eye at increaed rik with open or abent poterior len capule and ocular inflammation. Baed primarily on experience with latanoprot, the aociation between ocular hypotenive lipid and cytoid macular edema, even in high-rik eye, although preent, appear to be low. CONCLUION: Conidering the low incidence of cytoid macular edema aociated with latanoprot therapy, the author feel that after maximal tolerable medical therapy and with proper precaution, the ue of an ocular hypotenive lipid i an acceptable alternative to filtration urgery in high-rik eye.
