Abstract
PURPOE: To report a cae of abnormal electrooculogram and abnormal electroretinogram after lightning-induced ocular injury.
DEIGN: Interventional cae report.
METHOD: A 39-year-old man wa truck on the left forehead by a bolt of lightning. After reucitation, he regained concioune.
REULT: Ophthalmic examination dicloed a bet-corrected viual acuity of right eye (RE): 20/25 and left eye (LE): 20/50, burned eyelahe, punctate keratiti, iridocycliti, anterior ubcapular len opacity, miing foveolar reflex, and macular pigment epithelial defect LE. Fluorecein angiography revealed only an area of punctate leaking in the left eye. Electrooculogram howed reduced amplitude, in the left eye. Arden ratio wa RE: 2.04 and LE: 1.52. The amplitude of cotopic and photopic electroretinogram b-wave were reduced in the left eye. After uneventful cataract urgery in the left eye, the follow-up electrooculogram and electroretinogram till howed reduced amplitude in the left eye.
CONCLUION: Lightning i an uncommon caue of ocular injury. Thi i the firt report of abnormal electro-oculogram and abnormal electroretinogram after lightning-induced ocular injury
