Abstract
PURPOE: To report donor-to-hot tranmiion of Candida albican after penetrating keratoplaty.
DEIGN: Interventional cae report.
METHOD: A 15-year-old boy who underwent penetrating keratoplaty for keratoconu with donor tiue from a drowning victim developed keratiti and a lenticular abce 26 day potoperatively.
REULT: Candida albican wa cultured from the donor rim and the recipient cornea. Antifungal enitivity profile were identical for the two iolate. DNA profile were identical for both iolate, confirming the donor a the ource of the infection.
CONCLUION: Thi cae demontrate the value of routine culture of corneal donor rim and the adviability of cloe follow-up and poible antifungal prophylaxi when donor rim are poitive for fungu.
