Photodynamic therapy with verteporfin for ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada yndrome

PURPOE: To ae the role of photodynamic therapy uing verteporfin in the treatment of ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada yndrome. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: A 9-year-old patient with ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization received a ingle photodynamic therapy with verteporfin eion (one eye) and wa propectively followed with fluorecein angiography. REULT: A complete regreion of the leion wa achieved within 1 week after treatment. Viual acuity improved from 20/800 to 20/320 by 6 month of follow-up. Fluorecein angiography dicloed unexpected retinal pigment epithelium alteration within the treatment area. CONCLUION: Although regreion of the choroidal neovacularization occurred, unpredicted finding involving normal retina in the vicinity of the leion ugget that further tudie are required to ae the clinical value of thi treatment for ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada yndrome.
