Bilateral preumed endogenou candida endophthalmiti and tage 3 retinopathy of prematurity

PURPOE: To report a cae of preumed endogenou bilateral Candida endophthalmiti that developed in an infant with bilateral poterior tage 3 retinopathy of prematurity. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: In a very low birth weight and extremely premature infant, preumed endogenou bilateral Candida endophthalmiti wa uccefully eradicated from each eye and retinopathy of prematurity wa managed. REULT: Candida endophthalmiti wa uccefully eradicated from each eye by vitrectomy with intillation of 5 μg amphotericin B. tage 3 retinopathy of prematurity without “plu dieae” in the right eye regreed without ablation of the avacular peripheral retina. tage 3 retinopathy with “plu dieae” in the left eye wa uccefully managed with endolaer photocoagulation. CONCLUION: Concomitant Candida endophthalmiti and poterior tage 3 retinopathy of prematurity often portend a dimal prognoi. We decribe an infant for whom prompt diagnoi and aggreive therapy of both condition reulted in a favorable anatomic outcome in both eye.
