Iolated unilateral neurogenic blepharoptoi econdary to eyelid trauma

PURPOE: To decribe eyelid trauma a a caue of iolated neurogenic blepharoptoi. DEIGN: Obervational cae erie. METHOD: Three previouly healthy patient (two male and one female; aged 29 to 39 year) were evaluated for unilateral blepharoptoi following forceful anterior diplacement of the upper eyelid. Two injurie occurred during dometic altercation and one while the patient wa playing baketball REULT: All three patient had complete unilateral upper eyelid ptoi with no levator palpebrae uperiori function, conitent with lo of innervation. Additional finding included minimal eyelid ecchymoi, eyelid edema, and ubconjunctival hemorrhage in two cae. The remainder of the examination wa unremarkable with full ocular motility and no aniocoria. Without treatment, within 2 week, all three patient recovered completely with normal ymmetric lid height and levator function. CONCLUION: Iolated neurogenic blepharoptoi may reult from traumatic anterior upper eyelid diplacement. Reolution i likely within 2 week.
