Abstract :
PURPOE: The purpoe of thi article i to analyze cro-ectional image of a ubretinal macular leion, uing optical coherence tomography (OCT) in eye with adult-onet foveomacular vitelliform dytrophy (AOFVD), to compare thickne of the neuroenory retina over the leion with bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA) of each eye, and to compare OCT tomogram of AOFVD patient with OCT of Bet dieae. DEIGN: Obervational cae erie. METHOD: Thi i a retropective tudy which took place in a clinical practice. Forty-three patient (72 eye) with AOFVD and 12 patient (24 eye) with Bet’ dieae were tudied. The obervation procedure ued were biomicrocopic fundu examination, fluorecein angiography (FA), indocyanine green angiography (ICGA), and optical coherence tomography (OCT). The main outcome meaure were a decription of the typical picture of AOFVD in OCT tomogram, the relationhip between the neuroenory retinal thickne over the leion, the BCVA expreed in decimal term, and a comparion with decription of OCT in Bet dieae. REULT: Of the 43 patient affected by AOFVD, 29 had bilateral macular leion. Fluorecein angiography howed a central hypofluorecent pot urrounded by an irregular hyperfluorecent ring in 65 of the 72 eye. Indocyanine green angiography demontrated a central nonfluorecent pot and a hyperfluorecent area urrounding the central pot in 22 of 27 eye examined. In all 72 eye of 43 patient, OCT howed a well-defined central region of thickening in the reflective band repreenting the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). The relationhip between the thickne of neuroenory retina over the leion and BCVA wa ignificant (P = .001, r2 = 0.61). Optical coherence tomography in all 24 eye with Bet dieae howed a well-defined central erou retinal detachment. CONCLUION: In the 72 eye with AOFVD, FA and ICGA preented different feature. Intead, OCT tomogram howed a well-defined ubretinal thickening of the RPE in all the eye. The lack of difference in OCT pattern between cae with or without the hypofluorecent pot on angiography wa ueful for confirming the diagnoi of AOFVD. Moreover, a reduced viual acuity wa evident in patient with a thinner neuroenory retinal layer over AOFVD leion. Finally, OCT image were alo ueful for ditinguihing AOFVD from Bet dieae.
