Ue of a flap of extraocular mucle and fat during ubtotal exenteration to repair bony orbital defect

PURPOE: To decribe a technique for the primary repair of bony defect between the orbit and adjacent tructure during ubtotal exenteration. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: A flap compoed of orbital fat upported by an extraocular mucle pedicle wa ued to fill a defect between the orbit and the naal cavity in one cae, and to buttre a facia lata graft covering expoed dura mater in one cae. REULT: The exenterated ocket healed atifactorily without fitula formation in both cae. CONCLUION: Primary repair of communication between the orbit and it urrounding cavitie may prevent the development of potoperative fitulae or cerebropinal fluid leakage.
