Fomepizole therapy for reveral of viual impairment after methanol poioning: a cae documented by viual evoked potential invetigation

Purpoe To illutrate the afety and efficacy of fomepizole in a cae of methanol poioning with initial viual impairment. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 60-year-old man wa admitted with blurred viion and change in color perception 18 hour after ingeting 100 ml methanol. Fomepizole wa choen for antidotal therapy in combination with hemodialyi. Flah electroretinogram (fERG) and flah viual evoked potential (fVEP) examination were obtained at the bedide 2 hour after admiion and on day 1 and 8. The monocular pattern-reveral viual evoked potential (pVEP) were invetigated on day 1 and 8. Reult A complete reveral of viual impairment wa achieved within 20 hour. An abnormal b-wave amplitude and an increaed peak III latency at VEP were preent on admiion and recovered within 24 hour. Concluion Fomepizole appeared afe and effective for a patient who had evere methanol poioning preenting with viual impairment.
