Abstract
Purpoe
To report a tranient cataract after bleb needling and ubconjunctival injection of 5-fluorouracil.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
A 51-year-old man had an encapulated bleb after filtering urgery. The bleb wa needled, and 5 mg of 5-fluorouracil wa injected adjacent to the bleb.
Reult
Within 5 minute, viion fell to finger counting at 1 foot owing to anterior len capule opacification. The next day, acuity and len clarity had returned to their preneedling tatu. Bet-corrected acuity 7 month later wa 20/15.
Concluion
Entry of 5-fluorouracil into the anterior chamber after bleb needling can caue tranient len opacification. Recently, intracameral 5-fluorouracil wa reported a a new treatment for epithelial ingrowth. Given the tranient cataract oberved in thi cae, the ue of 5-fluorouracil for epithelial ingrowth hould be conidered with caution for phakic patient.
