Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe intraocular preure (IOP) and viual acuity outcome after glaucoma drainage device placement in eye with glaucoma aociated with aniridia.
Deign
Retropective, noncomparative, conecutive, interventional cae erie.
Method
The medical record of all patient who underwent glaucoma drainage device placement for the management of glaucoma aociated with aniridia at the Bacom Palmer Eye Intitute between January 1, 1989, and December 31, 1999, were reviewed.
Reult
The tudy included eight eye of five patient with a median age at the time of glaucoma drainage device placement of 92 month (range, 10– 495 month) and a median follow-up of 19 month (range, 11– 33 month). Preoperatively, the mean IOP wa 35 mm Hg uing a mean of one antiglaucoma medication. Potoperatively, the mean IOP wa reduced to 14.9 mm Hg and no patient wa uing antiglaucoma medication. Final viual acuity wa improved compared with preoperatively in five of eight eye (63%) and remained unchanged in two eye (25%). Lo of light perception occurred in one eye owing to retinal detachment. ucce rate uing Kaplan–Meier urvival analyi were 100% at 6 month and 88% at 1 year.
Concluion
Glaucoma drainage device placement for glaucoma aociated with aniridia achieve IOP control and viion preervation in mot patient.
