Abstract :
Purpoe To report the prevalence of vitreou opacitie and the outcome of vitreou urgery in patient with familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy (FAP). Deign Obervational cae erie. Method In 37 patient with FAP and the ATTR Val30 Met mutation, vitreou opacitie were preent in 14 eye of 9 patient and vitrectomy combined with phacoemulification and intraocular len implantation wa performed in five eye of three patient. In ix patient with the ATTR Tyr114Cy mutation, vitreou opacitie were preent in both eye of all ix patient and vitrectomy combined with phacoemulification and intraocular len implantation wa performed in nine eye of ix patient. The mean follow-up period after vitreou urgery wa 20.9 ± 16.8 month (range, 3 to 52 month). Reult The prevalence of vitreou opacitie i much higher in patient with ATTR Tyr114Cy (100%) than in thoe with ATTR Val30 Met (24%). The mean age at the onet of vitreou opacitie wa ignificantly lower in the patient with ATTR Tyr114Cy (37.0 ± 5.3 year) than in the nine patient with ATTR Val30 Met (52.8 ± 9.1 year; P < .005). Viual acuity improved in all 14 eye after vitreou urgery; however, final viual acuity decreaed in one eye owing to the occurrence of a central retinal vein occluion. Vitreou opacitie mildly increaed in two eye. Concluion Our data ugget that the ATTR Val30 Met and ATTR Tyr114Cy mutation induce different clinical feature of vitreou opacitie. Vitreou urgery combined with phacoemulification and implantation of an intraocular len i a afe and ueful treatment. Careful long-term follow-up hould be performed.
